Okay, so you've just taken your new smartphone/tablet out of its box and, shock, horror, there are no instructions with it, just a few useful do's & don'ts, like don't run over it with your car & don't flush it down the toilet. Yes, for many people it can be a daunting prospect of what to do after they've pressed the power button for the first time & are met with a host of confusing questions about license agreements, logins, creating accounts etc.. Let's face it, these devices are not instantly ready for normal use after we've unpacked them, they need to be configured & customised for you.

This is where I can come in & sort it out for you & take away some stress. These are some of the things you may need assistance with:

  • Logging into your Google/iTunes account

  • Connecting to Wi-Fi

  • Transferring photos from your old device

  • Setting up email

  • Installing the apps you like

  • Customization - ringtones, desktop wallpapers etc.

  • Setting up your device's security

If you find yourself stuck or anxious, please give me a call.

System Troubleshooting

Sometimes things go wrong, which can be extremely frustrating especially for the fact that most of us have our phones with us most of the time. Let's face it, a smartphone is not built for just making calls - it has an operating system just like a computer, so there is naturally more to go wrong.

Here are some of the issues I have put right in the last few years:

  • Apps failing to open or intermittently closing

  • Memory getting too full causing the device to run really slow

  • Emails failing to send/receive

  • Phone failing to make/receive calls or text messages

  • Calendar failing to sync with other Apps

If you are pulling your hair out because your phone or tablet is giving you jip, you might wanna give me a call.

What I Don't Do

Due to the nature of smart phones & tablets, which are massed produced & practically glued together, I do not do hardware repairs. This includes, screen replacement, socket & PCB replacement. In many towns & cities there are quite a number of mobile phone shops that do these sorts of repairs. They use specialised equipment & can get the job done properly. Always ask for a price first, because you could find a repair to an older device is not economical.

What I do recommend, is that you make sure your device's data is backed up on a regular basis, particularly precious photos & video shots. Once they're gone, they are gone.
