Network/Internet Assistance

Network

In computing terms, a network can be described as a system of interconnected devices that can communicate with each other and can basically be split into two areas:

Internal network

Within a the home or office there is an internal network whereby devices are connected via the router and are allocated a private (internal) IP address.  Whether it be network shares, wireless or network printers, these devices connect through your internal network. Some of the services I've been providing over the years include:

  • Creating and troubleshooting network shares between computers and NAS Drives

  • Setting up and troubleshooting network printers, Wi-Fi & LAN

  • Connecting Video Surveillance to the network - both internal and internet

  • Expanding Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity within the premises so that stronger network connection can be reached throughout

  • Troubleshooting slow and inconsistent network connection

Internet

These days internet connection throughout the home & office has not just become the norm, but for many, critically important, especially now more devices than ever have network connectivity. In an ideal world your internet connection should be fast, safe and reliable, but things will usually go pear-shaped at some time. The problem could stem from your router or it could be with your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or both. It could also be a problem with your computer/device. On saying that; it's important to remember that, before calling for support, an internet connection problem can often be fixed by switching off the router for 30 to 60 secs, switching back on, then waiting until the lights on the router have stabilized. If this fixes the problem then you're good to go. If however, none of your devices are connecting to the Internet, it's time to contact your ISP, or me if you're not feeling confident. It could be that your ISP is having technical issues at their side, or the router they have provided is developing problems or is outdated. If only one of your devices isn't connecting, please contact me so I can be of assistance - if you call your ISP out and it isn't a fault of theirs, they will charge you. My services with these types of issues include:

  • Investigating and identifying the cause of the problem.

  • Repairing your PC or laptop, whether it be hardware or software related, to restore it's network capability.

  • Providing assistance with setting up a new router and/or ISP.

  • Liaising with the ISP on your behalf to resolve internet connection issues.

Whatever issues you may be having with your network/internet, please don't hesitate to give me a call.
